HALTON REGION
Halton Region is split between the Toronto and Hamilton metropolitan areas and contains the city of Burlington and towns of Oakville, Milton and Halton. Between 2006 and 2011, it experienced a growth rate of 14.2%, the highest in Canada, and, as of 2016, had a population of 548,000, 70% of which are of European descent. Despite this rapid growth, agricultural and protected lands of the Niagara Escarpment remain the predominant land use.
